We Love This Game, So Who Do We Blame©
Love Of DC Basketball – A Native’s Perspective – By Brian Yeldell

We start out when we're young, playing for fun

We'll play at night with the lights, you know we'll play in the sun

We love this game, so who do we blame

I'll start today with the ones that currently play

KD's from around here, that's why we cheer

But there are more who can score, Ty, Beas, solid to the core

We love this game. They are some of the current ones to blame

Over the last 20 years, The Wizards, Gtown, Maryland, homeboys brought us cheers

Summer leagues so many games, you can get fatigue, so much intrigue

We love this game, but who do we blame

The 70s, Playing in parks, well after dark, by yourself, put down marks

Thicket, Luzon, Candy Cane, a few, roll through town, that's what you do

We love this game, these are some of the places to blame

I know whose fault, EB Henderson went to the Y, they said "halt"

Found some boys in school who thought it was cool, a game they could rule

We love this game, fresh from Naismith, EB can take the blame

Used to be in town, now spread around, bring whack game, get clowned

In the future, it'll be the same, many can lay claim, different names, a lot of fame

DC's a Redskin town, but we LOVE this game, I guess there are plenty to blame.
